EU Drone Authorities Overview
If you wish to fly a drone in the European Union or in a member state of the European Union Aviation Safety Authority, you have to:
- register as a drone operator at the National Aviation Agency (NAA) of your country in the EU. If you currently reside in a non-EU country, you must register at the NAA of the country you intend to fly your drone. You do not have to register, if your drone weighs less than 250g and does not include a camera.
- pass the examination for the A1/A3 certificate for drones above 250g. Unlike the registration, the examination for the A1/A3 certificate can be taken at the European National Aviation Agency (NAA) of your choice. Most NAAs in the EU provide online examinations on their sites or in combination with other providers.
In the table below we compiled some informations on the current ways of registrating and passing the A1/A3 certificate in a handful of countries in the EU. Visit the site of the European Union Aviation Safety Authority EASA for further informations regarding the other member states.
Please consider that some sites are currently only available in the national language of the country and do not provide tranlated versions, e.g. in english. If you need a translated version, you can let Google or another software translate the language into english or your language of choice.
